The ACT, Tasmania and the Northern Territory don't run selective-entry school programs. That doesn't change what strong preparation looks like — it just means there's no placement test at the end of it. Every family here has full access to the national NAPLAN stream, and for families who want structured extension beyond it, we recommend the state pathway whose content best matches your child's schooling:
ACT → follow the NSW pathway.
Canberra classrooms sit closest to NSW in structure and expectations. OC-style and Selective-style practice keeps extension students genuinely stretched, and the reasoning skills transfer directly to high-school streaming, scholarship tests and senior secondary success.
TAS → follow the VIC pathway.
Victoria's selective stream is the nearest match for Tasmanian students — ACER-style verbal and numerical reasoning with real curriculum depth. It keeps scholarship options open and builds squarely toward the TCE years.
NT → choose the WA or QLD pathway.
Both are curriculum-relevant for Territory students. WA's GATE stream leans into reading, writing and quantitative and abstract reasoning; QLD's stream ties directly to NAPLAN performance. Either positions your child strongly for scholarship tests, streaming, and the NTCET.
