Enrichment · ahead of the curriculum

Don't just use it. Understand it.

Kids have adopted AI faster than any tool before — and understand it less. AI Ready teaches the durable fundamentals, so your child controls the machine, not the other way around.

Enrichment, not exam prep — deliberately ahead of the syllabus.

They use it every day. No one's teaching them how it works.

Children are pasting homework into a chatbot, trusting whatever comes back, and quietly learning that thinking is optional. The school hasn't caught up — the syllabus takes years to change, and AI changes every month. The risk isn't that kids use AI. It's that they use it without judgement — unable to tell when it's brilliant, when it's confidently wrong, and when it's using them.

    The durable spine

Four things that don't go out of date.

Not “how to use this app” — that's stale in six months. The fundamentals that stay true no matter which tool wins.

    1

    Demystify

    How it actually works

    • What a model really does — predicts, doesn't “know”
    • Where its answers come from (and don't)
    • Why it's confident and wrong at the same time
    • The magic, taken apart — so it stops being magic
    2

    The real skill

    Judgement

    • When to trust it, when not
    • How to verify, cross-check and catch the made-up bits
    • Spotting bias and where it creeps in
    • Staying the decision-maker, not the passenger
    3

    Stay safe, stay honest

    Agency & ethics

    • Your data — what you give away, and to whom
    • Deepfakes, misinformation, and how to see them
    • Academic honesty — help vs cheating
    • Who's accountable when the machine gets it wrong
    4

    Make, don't just take

    Fluency

    • Prompting well — clear thinking in, useful work out
    • Using it as a tool, not a crutch
    • Building a small thing themselves, so it's not a black box
    • Knowing what it's great at — and what it isn't
Why it survives the moving feast

90% timeless. 10% we refresh — like a syllabus version.

The reason most AI courses are stale before they launch: they teach this month's tool. We don't.

    10% · refreshed each term

    The tools layer

The specific apps, model names and features of the moment. Swapped out like a syllabus version — the part that ages, isolated so it can't rot the rest.

    90% · timeless

    The foundations

How models work · judgement & verification · ethics & agency · thinking & fluency. None of this changes when a new model drops. It's the spine that lasts for years — and it runs on the same version-aware engine we already built for the syllabus.

    Two very different audiences

Built for where the child actually is.

    Upper Primary · Years 4–6

    Curious & safe

    Feel: playful, hands-on, wonder-first
Core: “what is it, really?” · it can be wrong · be kind & safe online · your words & your ideas matter
Skill: ask good questions; check before you believe
Guardrail: age-appropriate, supervised, no data exposure

    High School · Years 7–10

    Sharp & in control

Feel: real, a bit challenging, respect their fluency
Core: how models work · verify & cross-check · bias & deepfakes · academic integrity · build something
Skill: use it to think harder, not less; defend a view against it
    Guardrail: honesty framing, privacy, human-in-the-loop

    Where it fits — honestly

This is enrichment, not exam prep. It isn't an ATAR subject and we'll never pretend it is — that's the line that keeps the rest of SmartPrepai credible. But it isn't off-curriculum either: it feeds the Critical & Creative Thinking and Digital Literacy general capabilities, sharpens the Thinking Skills selective tests actually assess, and sits ahead of a syllabus that's only just starting to catch up. The school teaches what's examinable. We teach what's already here.

    Taught alongside myra

The neat part: the product teaching your child to understand AI is an AI — and myra models exactly the behaviour we're teaching. Honest about what she doesn't know, always showing her working, never pretending. Understanding AI, from an AI that shows you how it should be done.

The generation that grows up with AI should understand it.
